NTFS Mounter is a streamlined app that lets you use NTFS volumes on all of your macOS devices.

If you are tired of reformatting all of your external hard drives and memory sticks every time that you plug them into your Mac, then you might want to take a closer look at NTFS Mounter. With the release of Snow Leopard, Mac devices can now mount NTFS volumes, but the generic software for altering those volumes is very limited. With NTFS Mounter, you will easily be able to read and write to NTFS devices with just a few clicks of the mouse or taps of the screen.

While many Mac devices have been able to read NTFS volumes for years, writing data was a completely different story. In order to make an NTFS volume usable, you would usually have to completely reformat the device, and that meant losing all of your data. NTFS Mounter is a simple and straightforward Apple program that gives you the ability to quickly mount and use any volume that has been formatted in the new technology file system. That file system was originally created for Windows devices, and Apple devices were completely locked out of NTFS up until the recent Snow Leopard update.

Those who are familiar with AirPort are going to find this software very easy to use. After this program has been installed, you can click on the icon to display a list of all NTFS volumes. If your device is running Snow Leopard or any of the updates past that OS, then external NTFS volumes should be recognized automatically. Once you have chosen the volume, you can set it to read/write mode. To unmount a volume, you can simply click on the icon once more.

This software is very easy to use, but there are a few features that the developers seem to have left out. Unfortunately, you can eject a device when information is still being written, and that can result in corrupted files. NTFS Mounter doesn’t seem to warn you when there are active processes being carried out. Luckily, those issues can easily be avoided as long as you are careful. Overall, this is going to be an invaluable piece of software if you regularly use NTFS volumes.
